This watercolor portrait (11" x 14") was made from three different photos: one of the man, one of the dog, and one of the background. At the request of the client, I put all three together, which not only served as a surprise birthday gift but also as a memorial to his beloved dog, who passed away shortly thereafter.

The 50th Gold Anniversary Celebration GiftThis portrait (9" x 12") was my gift to friends of mine for their fifty anniversary. I used a photo from her Facebook, put a simple color background, and surprised them on their day of celebration. A couple of years after that watercolor painting was the central piece exposed at his funeral. That painting is still the central piece in her home.

At the wedding, the photographer (Mergen Sanzhinov) took this powerful photo which gave me a great inspiration to paint it my way. Often a photo doesn't do justice to the light, shades, and colors. Sometimes the photo gives you the wrong information. That is when I follow my instinct in that matter. I used a lot of layers of colors since nature is created that way. The transparency of watercolor helps me to bring life to my subjects. I can do a custom painting the size you need (minimum 7" x 5", maximum 22" x 30").
Packaging
The custom painting comes in a clear sleeve envelope between hard covers for protection.
Very large size paintings will be shipped in a plastic bag and in a rectangular box 4" x 24" (paintings larger than 11 x 14 inches).
The prints are shipped in a white mat (11" x 14") are inside a clear sleeve plastic envelope between hard cover for protection.
What kind of requests I can do for my custom painting?
I can combine different items in the portrait from different photos to create the painting ( like a background, a pet, etc.) or just a color background. Just mention your preference if you also want certain color etc. We work together on the composition of your painting. I will make sure we are on the same page because that painting means a lot to you.
How long does it take to do a custom portrait or a landscape?
As soon as I receive your photo I start working on it. I check my emails every day. It takes between 3 days to 6 days for the process. If there is a delay for some reason, I will let you know and change the shipping due date. Let me know if you need to receive it before a specific date so you will be my priority. Before I pack the painting for shipping, I will send you a photo of the final result for approval.
Do you paint on canvas?
No, right now I don't paint on canvas. I do my watercolor on Arches or Fabriano paper, 140lb cold press, 100% cotton. Frames are not included.
Returns, Cancellations
I don't accept cancellations but please contact me if you have problems with your order. I will try my best to satisfy your request.
Because of the nature of these items (custom personal painting), unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns
